Liveness detection is non-negotiable. Basic face recognition systems can be defeated by holding a printed photograph or phone screen in front of the camera. LPR — 200m Read Distance, Even at Night

Modern LPR (Licence Plate Recognition) cameras read UAE plates at up to 200 km/h vehicle speed, at distances of 5–200 metres, with equal accuracy in full daylight and complete darkness. The cameras use narrow-angle lenses, high-speed shutters, and powerful IR illumination to freeze the plate image regardless of vehicle speed or ambient light.

UAE plate recognition models: Quality LPR cameras are trained on UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait, and all GCC plate formats as standard. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and other Emirate plate designs are all supported. Vanity and personalised plates may have marginally lower recognition accuracy depending on font deviation from standard.

Camera Placement — The Factor That Determines Accuracy

Analytics accuracy is determined more by camera placement than by software sophistication. A poorly placed camera running the best analytics software will underperform a correctly placed camera running basic analytics. Before specifying any analytics platform, design the camera layout to meet the analytics requirements — not the other way around.

For face recognition: camera at 2–3 metres height, angled 10–15° downward, positioned 2–4 metres from the capture zone, adequate front-facing illumination (minimum 200 lux at the face), no backlight behind the subject.

For LPR: camera directly in front of the vehicle approach path (not from the side), IR illumination matched to the camera’s detection distance, vehicle speed under the camera’s maximum rated capture speed at that distance.
